Imogene Shope Barnes

Imogene Shope Barnes, age 91 of Gainesville passed away on March 2, 2018.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Clermont, Ga.  The Reverend Alan Shope will officiate.  Interment will be in the Wahoo Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Strickland Funeral Home.  Imogene was born on September 28, 1926 to J.B and Roxie Goudelock Shope in Wylam, AL.  Imogene was a hairdresser and owned Gene's Beauty shop, she was also a graduate from the Terrell School of Cosmetology.

Imogene was proceeded in death by her parents, J.B. and Roxie Shope, her brothers, J.B. Shope Jr. and Dick Shope, her sisters, Annie Kemp, Margaret Murray, and Faye Whitmire.  She is survived by her sons Dale Barnes and his wife Leslie of Gainesville, and Stanley Barnes and his wife Nancy of Clermont, her sisters Mary Welchel and her husband Jimmy, Stell Shope, Lillian Gilreath and Jo Shope all of Gainesville.  Her grandchildren are, Jessica Reed, Christy Barth, Jason Barnes and Casey Barnes and wife Heidi.  Her greatgrandchildren are Andrew Reed, Ansley Reed, April Barth and Amber Barth.
