Mr. John Steven Campbell, 74, of Gainesville, Georgia, died on Thursday, June 11, 2026. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. Reverend Spencer Anderson will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Campbell is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Edith Burtz Campbell Sr., his brothers and sisters Frank Campbell, Fay Grizzle, Jane Williams, Jeffery Campbell, and Tim Campbell. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Judy Carder (Ray), Jack Campbell (Nikki), James "Babe" Campbell (Debby) and Joy Cruce (Bobby) numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Joyce Talley.
Captain Johnny Campbell began his career with the Gainesville Police Department on March 1, 1973. He was promoted to sergeant in 1982, to lieutenant on June 30, 1983, and to captain on May 18, 1987. He retired from the police department on March 31, 1995. Thank you, Captain, for always having our backs, especially when it hit the fan. All who knew you will always remember your words, “Ok Now.” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
