From Perry's Loving Family

Heaven gained the absolute best person ever when our dad, Perry Chumbler, passed away. He was blessed with so many talents while here on earth: singer, musician, cook, baker, cake decorator, carpenter, handyman, problem solver, teacher, welder, designer, and just a touch of a florist. There are many more, but when there are millions, how do you list them all? Hopewell UMC was definitely one of the great loves in his life. He was a member there for 36 years and was faithful to it day in and day out. Since we have to lay him to rest somewhere, we are so glad it is there. He loved his children with his whole heart, and I think maybe his grandchildren even a little bit more. No matter how he felt or what was wrong, he always did everything he could for them and to be with them and to support them in all of their own activities. There was no way in the world to turn off his love for his fellow man. He was there for the people he knew no matter what they needed and no matter what had happened in their past. He had a very long fight with many health problems, but he fought it bravely and ferociously. Even though there was so much wrong and sometimes so much pain, we never heard him complain. We never heard him want to give up. He simply was the greatest person I have ever known. He was loved by so many people and he will be dearly missed. We take comfort in knowing he meant so much to so many.
